‘Ok, hold that pose! Ah perfect, I can’t wait to see how that picture turns out’… This was how conversations about photographs were held until a few years back. Now however you stand wherever you want while the photographer zooms in or out to make sure everyone is in the picture, and when the shot is taken you can analyze it to see if it is appropriate or not. So what brought about the change in the conversations as mentioned above?. All because someone was smart enough to invent digital cameras.
Digital cameras have been a boon to all those interested in photography, and even for those who aren’t. All that is required to use a digital camera is a memory card and a cable to upload it onto a computer, and a photographer is born. There are some memory cards which hold more than a thousand pictures, and they can be used and reused, which means soon enough you will have a library of all the most interesting, or even every day, things that happen in your life. Today someone pulling a digital camera out of their bag is not even given a second look, whether it is in the local mall, at a friend’s wedding or around colleges.
An industry that has been greatly affected by the invention of digital cameras is that of professional photographer’s. In the early days of photography, a professional would be hired for any major event – a wedding, christening, engagement, or even a party. Now however, friends and family are called upon to make sure every aspect of the important day is recorded. This has its benefits because for one, it is much cheaper, and also people do not feel awkward smiling into a camera held by someone they know, unlike in the case of a professional they may never have met before. Also because photographs taken in digital cameras need not be printed out, small time businesses that do printing have been hit hard. Unless a professional hard copy version of the photographs are needed, which happens quite rarely, a visit to the nearest printing shop is pretty unnecessary.
Newer and more modern versions of digital cameras come with additional features to them. There are those that can record videos, and those that allow the photograph to be edited on the camera itself. These little things add to the variety of things that can be done on digital cameras. All in all, digital cameras are the way of the future, so go ahead…experiment with one!
