Looking for a Trustworthy Credit Repair Business

There are far too many controversies about the credit repair business to ignore it. In fact, the reason that so many of those who need credit help fails to seek it, is the bad name associated with the credit repair industry.

Nevertheless it’s unfair and untrue that all credit repair businesses are out to rip off consumers. There are lots of reputable companies out there ready to intervene on your behalf to restore your credit to “good health.” But that leaves one with the problem of how to find out which companies can be trusted and how to avoid being taken in by the scammers who are ready to take YOU for all they can get.

In spite of commonly held belief, recognizing a deceptive repair agency isn’t all that hard. The first warning sign is if the credit company offers to fix your credit score “quickly.”

Since your credit score is calculated on the basis of your financial history, it’s next to impossible to improve your credit score in a very short time. As soon as any credit repair business tells you they can perform what you know is not possible, it’s time to look elsewhere, as you can be sure they are not to be trusted!

There are additional issues you need to watch for that will spell trouble. The fraudulent companies, in most every case, will require full payment upfront.

Federal law demands that the fees charged by any credit agency be charged only after the services have been rendered. No matter how bad your credit report is, never pay a company before they have rendered any services.

A dishonest credit repair business will not think twice about recommending illegal means to improve bad credit. They may in fact recommend illegal tactics while convincing you that there is nothing wrong in doing so, as they know an “insider” who works for the credit bureaus will cover up on their (and your) behalf.

Don’t ever fall prey to such false promises! Do not encourage any means to fix your credit unless it’s 100 percent legal. No matter how desperate you are, or how serious your problems, they will be made even worse if you’re caught using illegal means to relieve them.

You are primarily responsible when your credit report is repaired through illegal means; therefore, you could end up being prosecuted if caught breaking the law. Everything considered, it’s just not worth the trouble!

An additional way to establish whether the credit repair business you’re looking at is reputable, is to ask that they guide you in learning about repairing credit. A reputable agency will gladly provide you counseling and “hand holding” in your quest to become more knowledgeable in regard to credit restoration.

A trustworthy business will work as a facilitator, while a scam agency will be reluctant to provide information concerning the credit repair process.
